Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe that three years have passed since that magical day where we promised to always love each other. In good times and bad, in sickness and in health. Love, honor, cherish. We have kept this promise and will continue to, forever.
The last three years have not been easy for us. We've bought a house, moved, had two children and have been "tested" in so many ways. Knowing that our vows hold strong, we have continued to support and love each other through it all. Children have obviously changed our relationship. We are no longer just husband and wife, but now mommy and daddy. It's amazing to think of how much our relationship has changed over the years! What started as a blind date has turned into marriage and twins (beagle, too). It just goes to show that you can never really predict how your life is going to turn out.
Last night, we went to dinner and got a sitter for the boys. The boys were pretty well behaved (after Joey threw a huge tantrum before we left). We exchanged cards, as we told each other we were not going to get gifts this year. Then, he hands me a gift bag. In the bag was a rock that was tied in ribbon. There were two pieces of paper in the bag. The first one said, "Kristi, I will love you forever and always". The second piece of paper was a map of trails along Pikes Peak. The whole idea behind this is that he got an engraved rock (on the way to the house via UPS) with the message on it. This rock will be taken up to Pikes Peak, along with a lunch-time picnic, to be buried underground forever. This way we can always look up at the mountain and have a little piece of us up there. I actually started to cry when he told me all of this. This was HIS idea and really showed me how much thought he has given this anniversary. What a guy! Things like this make me fall in love with him all over again.
I got him shoes. Hey, it's the third anniversary! Isn't leather supposed to be the appropriate gift?
